Watching Rishabh Pant bat is not for the faint-hearted. The star wicketkeeper-batter started from where he had left during his last time in Australia. The Day 1 of the 1st Test witnessed a fighting knock from Pant who scored a gritty yet entertaining 37 from just 56 balls. India won the toss and opted to bat first, but found themselves in early trouble at 32/3. The hero from India’s last tour Down Under Australia turned India’s rescue-man as he entertained his way through to a fighting innings.
The highlight of Pant’s innings was a marvellous six, which was also the sole maximum of India’s 1st innings. He once again showed how there are many extraordinary shots in Pant’s arsenal. The star batter collapses his back knee, falls over to the off-side while getting under the ball and whips it over the fine leg boundary. The 360 degree shot could be termed as a falling sweep as Pant never fails to amaze with his jaw-dropping creative genius on the field.
AUS vs IND 1st Test, Day 1 Live
India were dismissed for just 150 after choosing to bat first in Perth. The Australian seam attack proved too hot to handle, with Hazlewood leading the charge, claiming four wickets, while the others shared two each. The pitch offered plenty of movement, and Australia kept up relentless pressure throughout. India started cautiously, trying to weather the early storm, but only briefly gained some momentum when Rishabh Pant played a few shots after lunch. Nitish Reddy, on debut, showed promise as well, and together they added 48 for the seventh wicket, but otherwise, India had little to celebrate.
